Welcome to The Dog Who Asked for More formerly known as Straight Up Dog Talk
This is personalized behavior and nutrition support for reactive, sensitive, and difficult-to-settle dogs — and the dog parents who love them. Rather than focusing on obedience alone, this work looks at the whole picture: behavior, nervous system regulation, environment, enrichment, and what's happening inside the body.
Support is offered virtually through video sessions and a Slack-based program, and is built around your dog's individual needs — not a generic template.

Most people who arrive here are already doing so much — reading the articles, trying the tips, buying the things. And still something feels off.
Dogs don't exist in pieces. Their bodies, brains, environments, and relationships are deeply connected. When something isn't working, it's rarely just obedience.
This work is built on the belief that:
This work is about clarity instead of confusion. Support instead of shame.

Living with a sensitive, reactive dog changed how I see everything. Food affects digestion, energy, mood, and a dog's ability to settle in ways most people don't expect.
Many dogs aren't difficult — they're uncomfortable. When the body feels better, everything else becomes easier. That's why nutrition isn't separate from this work. For many dogs it's foundational.
Em is a dog trainer, certified professional canine nutritionist (CPCN), and retired veterinary technician with over 20 years of hands-on experience across veterinary medicine, behavior support, enrichment, and nutrition.
But nothing shaped this work more than living with her own dogs — especially Fitz. Traditional advice didn't work for him. "Just train harder" didn't help. That experience led to building a different kind of support — one that considers stress, nervous system regulation, unmet needs, and what's happening inside the body.
This work blends:
Most people who arrive here are trying harder than anyone sees, carrying doubt they don't deserve, and afraid to admit how tired they are. None of that means you've failed your dog. It usually means the support you were given wasn't built for your dog.
You don't have to figure this out alone.

This is where we start — a free 15-minute conversation with no pressure, no obligation, and no expectation to do anything after.
We'll look at what's been feeling complicated, identify patterns you may be missing, and figure out what kind of support actually makes sense for your dog and your life. If you leave with clarity and nothing else, that still counts.
This work is calm, collaborative, and realistic. You won't be pushed into drastic changes, told you've been doing it wrong, or handed a rigid plan that doesn't fit your life. Instead you'll get:
Relief usually comes before action here — not after. Pricing is discussed at the end of the call based on what your dog actually needs. Everything is custom. Nothing is one-size-fits-all.
Support may include behavior guidance, enrichment planning, nutrition support, and helping you understand what your dog is communicating through their behavior. Many dogs who struggle with reactivity, anxiety, restlessness, or difficulty settling benefit from looking at the whole picture rather than focusing on obedience alone.
Sessions take place over video so we can talk through what's been happening in your dog's daily life. We'll look at patterns, triggers, environment, routines, and any physical or emotional factors that may be influencing behavior. This format allows us to work through real situations calmly without adding stress for your dog.
Many of the dogs I work with are sensitive, reactive, or experience the world very intensely. Instead of forcing dogs into stressful situations, we focus on helping the dog feel safer and more regulated while building skills gradually.
Training can be part of the process, but behavior is rarely just about training. Many dogs benefit from adjustments to enrichment, environment, routine, and nutrition alongside behavior work. Looking at these pieces together often helps dogs settle and regulate more easily.
No. Most people book a clarity call because they're feeling confused or overwhelmed. The goal is simply to slow things down, look at what's happening, and identify what might actually help.
You'll need a smartphone or camera to record and upload daily videos to Slack, along with a stable internet connection. Em reviews videos and provides feedback daily. Any additional items will be recommended based on your dog's specific needs.
The Slack-based virtual program is flexible — you can submit videos whenever works for you and receive feedback within 24 hours. For in-person or hybrid sessions, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule.
Book your free clarity call and we'll figure out together what makes sense for your dog and your life. From there you'll get access to the Slack channel to begin your personalized support.
That's completely okay. Some people start with the free clarity call, others explore resources first, and some simply want a place to ask questions. There's no pressure to move forward with anything unless it feels right for you.
